Meetings

MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS take place on the 3rd Wednesday of each month starting at 6.30 pm at the Deer Lagoon Grange Hall located at 5142 Bayview Road, Langley, WA.

The meetings begin with drinks and appetizers, followed by a short business meeting and conclude with the presentation from a guest speaker. Non-members are welcome to attend.

BOARD MEETINGS are held every 2ND Tuesday of every month at 6:00 pm. Location varies; (see previous month’s minutes for location).

Description: Past Commodore Derek and Pat Pritchard will tell the story of their time living in Kenya. Pat & Derek worked for the Outward Bound schools for 44 years. They lived on 4 continents and in eleven countries: with five of those years spent in Kenya. They lived in Laitokitok on the slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro, with their two children, in the heart of Maasai lands.

7:15 Program: Karl Kruger: The 2017 Race to Alaska

Description: In the 2017 Race to Alaska, Karl Kruger became the first person to paddle the 750 mile race course on a stand-up paddleboard. He taught himself to windsurf at twelve years old and worked his way up to 420s, Lasers, Hobies and a variety of keelboats…always yearning for a better ride. During the summer of 2009, with his wife and young daughter, Karl sailed aboard a 36’ sailing vessel up the Inside Passage from Orcas Island, WA to Ketchikan, AK and back again. Come hear the stories of this incredible sailor

7:15 Program: Irene Skyriver: PADDLING WITH SPIRITS: A SOLO KAYAK JOURNEY

Description: Inspired partly by her own spirit of adventure, and partly by the stories of her native coastal ancestors (Tlingit and Makah), Irene Skyriver celebrated her fortieth year of life with a solo kayak voyage, paddling from Alaska to her home in Washington’s San Juan Islands. Come hear the stories of this incredible adventurer.
